Medic 402 (M402) Picture of Medic 402

Medic 402 is a 2003 Freightliner FL60 medium-duty ambulance with a 167" long module with curbside rear backboard storage and an exterior electrical compartment.

The electrical system features the Weldon Technologies V-MUX multiplexing system. Emergency warning devices include a Whelen LED lighting package, Grover air horns, and a EQ2B siren. The cabinet package incorporated a cutback street side wall as well as a cutback squad bench for more room for the medics to work on the patient.

The unit has a Cummins 245 HP ISB engine with an Allison MD3060P transmission.

It is staffed 24/7 by 2 career paramedics from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Volunteers provide supplemental staffing on Medic 402, acting as an extra set of hands to assist with the patient or driving to and from the scenes of emergencies.
