Recruitment.

What's in it for you? The satisfaction of knowing that you have donated your time and efforts to being a part of the community. Knowing that you may one day be able to save a life and knowing that you have the skills, knowledge and experience to help you excel in any endeavor in your life.

Not interested in operational activities? The VVFD still has areas where you can help. Administrative and auxiliary members play a critical role in the functioning of the department.

All members who perform 240 hours of annual service are entitled to claim a personal property tax exemption on one (1) vehicle.

Operational.

Volunteers can choose two paths: EMS only or Firefighter/EMT. Volunteers are used in various capacities within the county's fire service. They supplement staffing, adding personnel to units already in service and provide emergency staffing for special events such as Fairfax Fair and Viva Vienna.

Administrative.

The department is looking for volunteers who want to join an organization committed to serving its community. Administrative members provide invaluable support to the department through the departmental committees.
Administrative Details

Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary provides financial support to the VVFD to help purchase lifesaving equipment. The Auxiliary purchased the department's first ambulance and has continued the tradition with the purchase of Vienna's new Canteen Unit. The Auxiliary sponsors many fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds.
