At the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department (VVFD), our commitment to public safety extends beyond emergency response. Through community outreach and events, we aim to build trust, educate the public, promote wellness, and create lasting relationships with our neighbors. Our outreach efforts include a wide range of events, educational programs, health services, and fundraisers—all driven by volunteers who care deeply about our community.
Every October, the VVFD hosts its annual Open House in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association’s Fire Prevention Week. Each year highlights a new fire safety theme to help our community stay informed and prepared.
Fire safety education saves lives. Our Open House is an opportunity for children and adults to interact with firefighters, explore emergency vehicles, and learn how to prevent and respond to fires—all in a fun, family-friendly setting.
Did you know nearly half of adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure? The VVFD offers free blood pressure checks at community locations throughout the year.
High blood pressure is often called the “silent killer.” Our screenings can help catch early signs so you can speak with your healthcare provider about lifestyle changes or medical treatment before it becomes life-threatening.
In partnership with INOVA, the VVFD hosts blood drives each year to support our local healthcare system and help those in critical need.
One blood donation can save up to three lives. When you donate at VVFD, you’re directly supporting patients in our community.
Blood drives are conveniently held at the VVFD right here in our community.
Our firehouse doors are open! Whether you’re a student, a group, or a curious community member, VVFD station tours offer an inside look into a working fire station.
Each December, Santa swaps his sleigh for a 1946 Maxim fire engine, lovingly restored and brought back to the VVFD after decades of service. The Santa Runs are a cherished Vienna tradition where the VVFD elves drive Santa around Vienna to bring joy and holiday cheer to young and old alike.
Each holiday season, in the weeks before Santa Runs, Santa joins the VVFD to deliver VVFD ornaments and pay a special visit to VVFD donors on the 1946 Maxim fire engine. Stay tuned each holiday season for information on how to arrange a special visit from Santa!
One of our two major annual fundraisers, this tournament helps the VVFD raise critical funds to maintain and upgrade our fire and EMS apparatus, improve our station, and support the organization’s needs. This event also offers community members an opportunity to engage in a day of golf and fun while supporting a great cause.
As a volunteer-owned station, we rely on community donations to operate effectively. Your participation helps us continue our mission of protecting lives and property in Vienna.
Since 1927, the VVFD Auxiliary has supported the department through fundraising and support. To this day, the Auxiliary hosts fundraising events year around to help support the VVFD and our community.
