I just got off a Zoom call with the big guy from up North. He show me all the 2020 modifications to his Workshop - elves in masks, staggered toy making workstations, plexiglass everywhere... seems there is no escaping it this year!!! But, Santa is extremely excited to take a break from it all and visit his favorite town - Santa is still coming to Vienna!
Santa will be stepping on board his cherished sleigh - the 1946 Maxim fire engine. He is particular excited as this coming January marks 75 years of service for the old pumper! Santa has placed his order for the new ornament commemorating the Maxim, have you?
Santa Runs will look a little different, but what hasn't been different this year? Santa will still be driven around in his official Vienna sleigh by his friends at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. However, we will not be handing out candy canes, Santa and his elves will be in masks, and we will be observing social distancing. Please do come out side to see us - we will still smile, wave, and sing wildly out of tune - but we do ask for everyone to continue to maintain social distancing.
The area maps will remaining the same this year, however we will start each day at 5pm, per the schedule on this page.
View the overall map and the schedule to get a better idea when we'll be in your neighborhood. We are hoping that with our new elfin sleigh mechanic recruited directly from the North Pole, we will be able to avoid mechanical difficulties and follow this schedule. Please keep in mind however that weather, mechanical issues, or other factors may cause us to deviate or not complete our schedule. Any changes to the schedule will be updated here and Twitter. Santa and his VVFD elves look forward to seeing you around town!
Q: What streets will you be covering?
A: Santa tries to make it to every street in the area to be covered for that evening. We are not always successful, each night is a little different depending on the crew, routes, traffic, weather, truck, and number of neighbors out seeing Santa.
Q: What time will you be by my street?
A: Rudolf is in charge of the map each night, there is no set route to follow since conditions change for all the same reasons as above. Though generally we will attempt to work north to south or south or north. Your best bet is to watch the Santa Tracker on this page or on Santa's twitter feed @VVFDSanta and to listen to our sirens as we get close to your street!
Q: We missed Santa when he came down our street. Will you come back?
A: Unfortunately we do not have the time to do areas more than once, we are stretched to meet the full area each night.
Q: You missed my street!
A: We do what we can to make it to every street but occasionally miss one due to time, conditions, or simple oversight.
Track Santa! When he's on the road, check this map for location updates.
All done for this year, Santa is back at the North Pole ready for his big ride!
This is Santa's anticipated schedule for 2020. As always, the schedule is subject to change due to weather and mechanical issues. This page will be will be updated with any changes, as well as notifications sent via Twitter @VVFDSanta.
